The Noida Authority is set to unveil two major infrastructure projects: the Bhangel Elevated Road and its new administrative headquarters in Sector 96. The 5.5 km, six-lane elevated road-built over the DSC Road at a revised cost of INR 608 crore-will ease traffic between Noida and Greater Noida by bypassing congested areas like Chhalera and Bhangel. Meanwhile, the Authority's twin-tower HQ, spanning six acres and revised to INR 304 crore after design flaws and contractor delays, is also nearing completion. Despite repeated setbacks, both projects aim to improve connectivity and governance, signaling Noida's push toward efficient urban infrastructure and administration.
The Noida Authority is gearing up to unveil two landmark infrastructure projects in the near future: the Bhangel Elevated Road and its new administrative headquarters in Sector 96. These developments, long-awaited by residents and stakeholders, are set to redefine the city's urban landscape.
The Bhangel Elevated Road, a 5.5 km six-lane corridor constructed above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) road, aims to streamline traffic flow between Noida and Greater Noida. Initially approved in 2013 and launched in June 2020 with a budget of INR 468 crore, the project has faced multiple delays and structural modifications, including the narrowing of a 90-meter stretch due to obstructing buildings. These changes have escalated the project's cost to INR 608 crore. Once operational, the road will connect Agahpur to the Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) in Sector 82, bypassing congested areas like Chhalera, Barola, and Bhangel markets, thereby reducing travel time for daily commuters.
Concurrently, the Authority's new administrative headquarters in Sector 96 is nearing completion. Conceived in 2009 and spread over six acres, the twin-tower building began construction in 2015 with an initial budget of INR 478 crore. However, due to construction quality issues and a delay exceeding 450 days, the original contractor was blacklisted in 2022, and a new contractor was appointed. A structural audit by IIT-Delhi in 2023 identified design flaws, prompting corrective actions and leading to a revised budget of INR 304 crore.
These projects have missed several deadlines, with the Bhangel Elevated Road's initial completion dates set for December 2022, then December 2023, and later December 31, 2024. Despite these setbacks, the Noida Authority remains committed to expediting the work to meet the new inauguration timeline.
The projects, despite facing numerous challenges, underscore the Authority's dedication to enhancing urban connectivity and administrative efficiency. Their completion is anticipated to not only alleviate traffic congestion but also streamline governance, setting a precedent for future urban planning initiatives in the region.
