The Uttar Pradesh government has acquired around 13,500 acres over the past 11 months for a new industrial city under the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA), bringing total acquired land to 17,840 acres of the planned 35,300-acre project. Located between Jhansi and Kanpur, the initiative marks UP's second major industrial city after NOIDA and aims to boost regional development and employment. Overseen directly by the Chief Minister, the project is expected to support the state's defence corridor and catalyze economic growth. Infrastructure upgrades are underway to support industrial activity, positioning Bundelkhand as a key destination for domestic and global investments.
In a strategic move to drive industrial development in the Bundelkhand region, the Uttar Pradesh government has acquired approximately 13,500 acres of land over the past 11 months. The land, located between Jhansi and Kanpur, has been designated for the establishment of a new industrial city under the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA). This ambitious project is set to cover a total area of 35,300 acres, with the land acquisition currently totalling 17,840 acres.
A government spokesperson indicated that the acquired land includes 12,700 acres from private owners and 5,140 acres from various government departments. The initiative marks the second major industrial city in Uttar Pradesh, following the creation of NOIDA in 1976, and is part of the state's broader plan to attract industrial investment and generate substantial employment opportunities in the region.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is personally overseeing the project, conducting daily reviews to ensure that the development progresses as planned. According to officials, the establishment of the industrial city is expected to act as a catalyst for the regional economy, creating extensive job opportunities, particularly for local youth. The initiative is also expected to bolster the state's defence corridor project, further enhancing Bundelkhand's economic landscape.
To accommodate the anticipated influx of industrial activity, the government has commenced infrastructure upgrades, including improvements to road connectivity and other essential facilities. These enhancements are designed to provide seamless access to the industrial city, facilitating both logistical operations and investor confidence.
The government's proactive stance in pushing forward with the BIDA project reflects its commitment to transforming Bundelkhand into a thriving industrial hub. With extensive land acquisition already completed, the state is poised to accelerate infrastructure development, aiming to attract both domestic and international investors to the newly planned industrial city.
