Under this legislation, promoters are prohibited from advertising, marketing, or selling any real estate project unless it is duly registered with the authority. Likewise, real estate agents are strictly barred from facilitating the sale or purchase of any unregistered property.

The authority also encourages buyers to proactively contact the APRERA helpdesk for project information verification or to report issues such as construction delays or substandard quality, reinforcing its role in consumer protection.

The RERA Act, implemented in 2017, was a significant reform aimed at injecting greater transparency and accountability into India's real estate sector, thereby reducing risks for homebuyers.
