Synopsis

Tata Power has recently announced it has exceeded 150,000 rooftop solar installations across India, achieving an aggregate capacity of 3 GW and reinforcing its leadership in the rooftop solar segment. With operations in over 700 cities and a 13.1% market share in rooftop EPC, the company reported a robust profit after tax of INR 209 crore in the last financial year. Building on this success, Tata Power aims to install rooftop solar systems in 3 million households over the next three years, aligning with government efforts to expand solar energy adoption. Its integrated manufacturing facility and extensive partnerships have played a crucial role in scaling this clean energy drive.

Earlier this week, Tata Power revealed it had crossed the milestone of 150,000 rooftop solar installations across India, reaching a cumulative capacity of 3 GW. This achievement further consolidates its position as the country's leading rooftop solar provider. Operating in over 700 cities, Tata Power commands a 13.1% market share in rooftop engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), reflecting its widespread presence and execution capabilities in this sector.

During the last financial year, the rooftop solar division posted a profit after tax of INR 209 crore, including INR 100 crore recorded in the final quarter, underscoring the segment's strong financial performance and growing consumer demand.

Looking ahead, Tata Power has set an ambitious target to extend its rooftop solar installations to 3 million households over the coming three years. This objective aligns with the government's PM Surya Ghar Yojana initiative, which aims to provide solar-powered electricity to 10 million households nationwide.

The company's 'Ghar Ghar Solar, Tata Power ke Sang' campaign has been launched in several key cities including Jodhpur, Varanasi, Kochi, Coimbatore, and Raipur. To support this large-scale expansion, Tata Power has built a robust last-mile delivery network comprising over 600 channel partners operating across more than 400 districts, alongside 225 authorised service partners ensuring seamless installation and maintenance.

Strategic collaborations with over 20 financial institutions have facilitated financing options for rooftop solar projects exceeding INR 5,680 crore. These partnerships play a pivotal role in making solar energy more affordable and accessible to households across diverse regions.

On the manufacturing front, Tata Power sources the solar modules deployed in its rooftop projects from its state-of-the-art TP Solar facility located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The fully integrated plant boasts a production capacity of 3,291 MW of solar modules and 846 MW of solar cells, operating at over 90% utilisation. The facility incorporates advanced technologies such as TOPCon, Mono PERC, and bifacial cells, enabling the manufacture of high-efficiency, Domestic Content Requirement (DCR)-compliant modules that optimise energy yield and overall system performance.

By leveraging cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities, strategic financial partnerships, and a strong distribution network, the company is driving widespread adoption of rooftop solar power. Its goal to reach 3 million households in the next three years aligns closely with national sustainability targets, paving the way for a greener and more energy-efficient future.
