Effective from May 1, 2025, Pune residents can register property documents at any sub-registrar office within the district, regardless of the property's location. Pune residents can now register property documents at any sub-registrar office within the district, irrespective of the property's location. This change, effective from May 1, 2025, is part of Maharashtra's "One State, One Registration" initiative, aimed at simplifying the property registration process and enhancing accessibility for citizens.
Previously, individuals were required to visit the sub-registrar office that had jurisdiction over the property's location, often leading to overcrowding and delays. With the new system, citizens can choose any sub-registrar office within Pune district, potentially reducing wait times and distributing workloads more evenly across offices.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Department of Registration and Stamps to digitize and streamline property registration services across Maharashtra. By allowing intra-district flexibility, the government aims to improve efficiency and reduce the burden on specific offices. This move is expected to benefit both urban and rural residents by providing more options and convenience in the registration process.
Additionally, the state is preparing to launch inter-district registration, which will enable individuals to register properties located in one district at offices in another district. Technical challenges are currently being addressed, with the feature expected to be introduced in the coming months.
