Synopsis

The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in Gurugram conducted a significant demolition campaign earlier this week in the vicinity of Sultanpur Park, a Ramsar site. The operation targeted three unauthorized colonies across approximately 32 acres in the Farrukhnagar area. These colonies, developed without required approvals, violated urban planning laws. The demolition effort led to the removal of under-construction buildings, damp proof courses, boundary walls, and an industrial unit. The DTCP team stressed that such actions would continue to uphold legal standards and ensure planned development in Gurugram.

The Gurugram-based Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) carried out a major demolition project earlier this week near Sultanpur Park, a Ramsar site. The operation specifically targeted three unauthorized colonies, which spanned about 32 acres in the Farrukhnagar area, known for unregulated development.

These colonies were constructed without the required approvals, violating the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Act, 1963. As a result, the authorities took decisive action to dismantle illegal structures and ensure compliance with urban planning regulations.

During the operation, several illegal structures were removed, including two under-construction buildings, 18 damp proof courses (DPCs), three farmhouse boundary walls, an industrial unit, and five plot boundary walls. Additionally, the internal road network that facilitated these unauthorized developments was also demolished. These measures were intended to prevent further illegal growth in the area.

The demolition team was led by town planner Amit, assistant town planner Anish, and junior engineers Naveen, Harshit, and Amit, with support from the local police to maintain law and order during the operation. The authorities were clear in their message that these actions were part of an ongoing effort to protect the master plans of Gurugram and ensure that urban development is carried out within legal and environmental guidelines.

Authorities also advised citizens to thoroughly verify the necessary approvals and licenses before investing in any real estate properties. They emphasized that such preventive measures are crucial to avoid the legal complications that can arise from purchasing properties in unauthorized colonies.

The demolition efforts extended beyond Sultanpur Park, with similar actions taken in other villages, including Farukhnagar, Saidpur Mohammadpur, Khurampur, Karola, Birhera, and Alimuddinpur. During the drives conducted on April 24 and April 26, unauthorized structures spanning nearly 47 acres were demolished across various locations.
