Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate India Steel 2025 in Mumbai next week. Organised by the Ministry of Steel, this three-day flagship event is expected to host over 12,000 business visitors, 250 exhibitors, and 1,200 conference delegates, representing both domestic and global stakeholders. The exhibition will explore growth opportunities, sustainability goals, and innovation across the steel value chain. Key dignitaries, including Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, and foreign delegations, will participate, underscoring the sector's expanding global linkages and India's push towards a 300-million-tonne production capacity by 2030.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the India Steel 2025 event through video conferencing next week in Mumbai, according to a recent statement from the Ministry of Steel. This three-day international exhibition and conference, a key initiative of the steel sector, is anticipated to attract more than 12,000 business visitors, alongside 250 exhibitors and 1,200 conference delegates. Attendees will include representatives from various industries, central and state governments, international and domestic buyers, and global country delegations.
The Prime Minister's address will be delivered virtually and will be accompanied by the presence of Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H D Kumaraswamy, and Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varm, at the venue. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai are also expected to attend the event.
Marking its sixth edition, India Steel 2025 aims to foster strategic dialogues and partnerships across the global steel ecosystem. Discussions will centre on the sector's forward path, with key themes including sustainability, innovation, resilience, and the expansion of domestic consumption. The event will also spotlight emerging steel applications and future-ready technologies.
India is currently advancing towards its National Steel Policy goals, targeting a production capacity of 300 million tonnes and a per capita steel consumption of 160 kg by 2030.
Adding to the event's international gravitas, senior foreign dignitaries and top industry leaders from across the globe are expected to be in attendance. High-level delegations will include the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and ambassadors from Australia, Mozambique, and Mongolia, highlighting India's growing strategic and economic cooperation in the steel domain.
With the Prime Minister's participation and global delegations converging in Mumbai, the steel industry is expected to gain fresh momentum toward meeting its ambitious 2030 targets.
