The Uttar Pradesh government has confirmed that Noida International Airport will begin domestic operations from May 15, 2025, with international flights to follow by June 25, 2025. Originally set to open in September 2024, the project faced delays due to construction setbacks, prompting the state to impose a INR 10 lakh per day penalty on the concessionaire. The airport is expected to transform the region, driving real estate growth and economic activity, similar to major airports in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Plans for enhanced connectivity with Delhi, including air-conditioned electric buses, will further bolster its impact on regional development.
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that the Noida International Airport is set to commence domestic flight operations on May 15, 2025, with international flights expected to follow by June 25, 2025. Originally, the airport was slated to open on September 29, 2024. However, due to setbacks, the deadline was first moved to April 2025 and now to May 15, 2025, marking a six-month delay. In response, the state government has imposed a penalty of INR 10 lakh per day on the concessionaire, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), effective from January 1, 2025. This amounts to INR 3 crore per month until the airport becomes operational.
The delay has been attributed to an extended monsoon season in 2024, which affected construction timelines. Currently, approximately 8,000 workers are on-site, working diligently to meet the revised deadlines.
The inauguration of the Noida International Airport is anticipated to significantly impact the region's real estate market. Historically, the development of major airports has led to increased property demand, infrastructure development, and economic growth in surrounding areas.
