Slated to begin development in the coming financial year under TIDCO's leadership, this project will integrate high-tech business hubs, fintech zones, and essential social infrastructure like healthcare and education. Designed to cater to multiple income groups with modern residential options, the city aims to strengthen connectivity through metro extensions, express bus services, and enhanced road networks. The Tamil Nadu government, in its latest budget announcement, has introduced a transformative urban initiative, "Global City," to be established on the outskirts of Chennai. Spanning 2,000 acres, this project is part of a broader strategy to ease the strain of rapid urbanization currently weighing on the state's capital and surrounding regions.
The ambitious development, set to kick off in the upcoming fiscal year, will be spearheaded by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). The plan underscores the state's intent to create an integrated urban ecosystem that caters to modern business, residential, and lifestyle needs.
The proposed city will host an array of high-value infrastructure and amenities. These will include IT parks, fintech trade zones, and innovation-driven research and development centers aimed at attracting cutting-edge enterprises. Additionally, high-tech companies, along with major banking and insurance players, are expected to establish a strong presence within the project.
