This initiative is expected to generate over INR 250 crore in revenue.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched its annual property tax rebate scheme to encourage citizens to pay their outstanding bills on time. Residential property owners who settle their pending taxes between mid- and late-March will enjoy a full 100% interest waiver, while commercial property owners are eligible for a 75% waiver. This yearly initiative, typically announced at the beginning of March, is projected to bolster AMC's revenue by over INR 250 crore.

As of earlier this month, AMC has amassed INR 1,532.76 crore in property tax for the ongoing fiscal year. Additionally, the corporation has garnered INR 238.24 crore from professional tax and INR 211.80 crore from vehicle tax collections, enhancing its financial standing.

Reflecting on the previous fiscal year, AMC collected a total of INR 1,679.98 crore in property tax, with INR 1,175.04 crore accumulated between April 1 and January 17. This indicates a positive trend in tax collections, underscoring the effectiveness of AMC's initiatives to encourage timely payments.

AMC's property tax rebate scheme serves as a strategic measure to incentivize timely tax payments, thereby enhancing municipal revenue. By offering substantial interest waivers to both residential and commercial property owners, the corporation not only alleviates the financial burden on taxpayers but also ensures a steady inflow of funds for civic development. The consistent year-on-year increase in tax collections reflects the success of such initiatives and highlights the community's growing compliance with tax obligations.
