The rising housing demand in Vidarbha, driven by industrial growth and MIHAN's development, has prompted Minister of State for Housing, Pankaj Bhoyar, to push for swift affordable housing initiatives. In a review meeting, he emphasized transparent execution, redevelopment of old buildings, and integrating residential areas with commercial spaces. To address vacant homes in Hinganghat, he proposed their allocation to the police department. Updates included projects in Nagpur, Wardha, and Chandrapur, with a special housing scheme for industrial workers. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also prioritized senior citizen housing, reinforcing the government's commitment to sustainable urban development and economic growth.
The demand for housing in Vidarbha is increasing due to industrial growth and job opportunities created by the Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN). During a review meeting held in Nagpur, Minister Bhoyar emphasized the importance of redeveloping old buildings and ensuring that housing schemes are executed transparently. He highlighted the need for strategic planning to combine residential areas with commercial spaces, which could enhance economic viability and create more job opportunities. This approach aims to make housing not just a place to live but also a part of a thriving community.
One concern raised during the meeting was the issue of unoccupied homes in cities like Hinganghat. To address this, Bhoyar suggested that these vacant houses be allocated to the police department, ensuring that they are utilized effectively. He urged Mhada officials to work on this proposal and maintain transparency in their operations, focusing on quality construction in three main areas: redevelopment of old buildings, affordable housing, and the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The meeting also provided updates on various ongoing projects. Chief Engineer Mahesh Meghwale reported on the development of a textile commercial complex at the Empress Mill site in Nagpur, along with housing schemes in surrounding areas like Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, and Chandrapur. The government is also working on the New Chandrapur Housing Scheme, specifically designed for industrial workers, which aims to provide affordable housing close to their workplaces.
In addition to these efforts, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has prioritized housing for senior citizens as part of a 100-day initiative, which aims to address the specific needs of this demographic. The government is also implementing an e-office system to improve transparency in housing schemes, making it easier for citizens to access information and participate in the process.
Overall, the government's proactive measures in Vidarbha reflect a commitment to addressing the housing crisis while fostering economic growth and community development. As industrial expansion continues, the focus on affordable housing and strategic planning will be crucial in ensuring that all residents can benefit from the region's growth.
