Google has opened its expansive new campus, Ananta, in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru. With a seating capacity for over 5,000 employees across divisions including Android, Cloud, and DeepMind, the campus emphasizes collaboration and individual work with diverse, accessible workspaces. Constructed using local materials, Ananta incorporates eco-friendly technologies such as water recycling, rainwater harvesting, and smart photochromic and electro-chromic glass. Google's expansion in Mumbai with premium leased spaces further underscores the company's investment in India's digital future, creating significant real estate news for the property market India and driving innovation globally.
Google has opened its latest campus in India, called Ananta, which means 'infinite' or 'limitless' in Sanskrit. Located in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, Ananta is among the largest campuses of the company in the world and has a seating capacity of over 5,000. The campus has been built with accessibility in mind, with building materials being sourced nearly entirely from local vendors.
Google Ananta has been designed to minimize its carbon footprint by incorporating elements like recycling of water waste, rainwater harvesting on the premises, and smart photochromic glass across the building to conserve energy.
The new campus will be home to teams across several divisions such as Android, Search, Pay, Cloud, Maps, Play, and DeepMind. The office has been structured to support collaboration but also includes assigned nooks, booths, and quiet places for dedicated solo work. The campus has a center hub of activity referred to as Sabha and tactile flooring which aids the visually impaired in navigating the space.
Among its numerous features, the campus has one of India's largest electro-chromic glass facades (a form of smart glass technology that can be made to change between transparent and opaque states), jogging and walking tracks, and green water management systems like wastewater recycling and rainwater harvesting.
In contrast to traditional office environments that are merely meant for working, Ananta has been planned to encourage interaction and relaxation. The campus boasts a range of facilities, ranging from a fully functional gymnasium to daycare centers, cafeteria, and a mini forest called Aranya.
Apart from its growth in Bengaluru, Google India and Google Cloud have recently leased office spaces in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The office spaces that have been leased are located in the First International Financial Center (FIFC), a commercial development covering 1.99 acres of land in the main business area of Mumbai. According to the lease contract, the rent will be INR 320 per square foot per month.
With a robust workforce and presence in several cities, Google is still plowing money into India's digital expansion, cementing its position in shaping India's technological future.
