The collaboration between Web Werks and Iron Mountain Data Centres has procured new land to enhance their data centre campus in Rabale, Navi Mumbai. This will result in the establishment of their third facility, named MUM-3. The data centre, MUM-3, is planned to be operational in the second half of 2025 and has a capacity of 32 megawatts for IT usage. It is designed as a Tier III data centre. The approval for an extra power substation with a capacity of 120 MVA was granted to the data centre campus upon its expansion.

The upcoming MUM-3 data centre will be situated in proximity to the well-connected MUM-1 carrier hotel and the recently constructed MUM-2 facility, which serves as a dedicated data centre with an IT load of 6 megawatts and an environmentally conscious design. Together, the expanded data centre campus provides customers with the opportunity to utilize extra, sought-after megawatt capacity. The expansion of the facility will enhance an existing network that includes top-notch carriers, over 200 internet service providers, three of India's biggest peering exchanges, and convenient access to leading hyperscale cloud providers.

We are thrilled to expand our data centre campus in Mumbai rapidly and comprehensively, as we have acquired land to establish our third centre in one of India's most significant data clusters. Our investment showcases our dedication to construct data centres in India that are exceptionally interconnected, secure, and compliant to cater to our wide-ranging clientele, including hyperscale, network, content, and enterprise customers, said Mark Kidd, EVP & Global General Manager, Data Centres & Asset Lifecycle Management.

Looking forward to the remainder of the year, we possess crucial priorities in our strategic plans. We are establishing brand new data centres in key cities across India and have secured numerous MoUs with the Karnataka and Telangana governments to establish data centres in Bangalore and Hyderabad. This move positions us as the prime provider of colocation solutions for both hyperscalers and enterprise customers. According to Web Werks CEO Nikhil Rathi, their company is enhancing their solution standards through cutting-edge hosting infrastructure, network security, and cloud-on-demand.

Web Werks has curated an extensive selection of colocation and hosting services that offer holistic options for wholesale, retail, and hyper-scale hosting solutions. The primary aim of these facilities is to promote and enhance the carrier, cloud, and content-neutral interconnectivity infrastructure in India for businesses. Iron Mountain is a global leader in innovative storage, data centre infrastructure, asset lifecycle management, and information management services. They offer digital transformation, data centres, secure record storage, secure destruction, and logistics to help businesses unlock value from stored assets with speed, security, and environmental responsibility.

In the year 2021, Web Werks formed a strategic partnership with Iron Mountain, a company providing enterprise information management services in the US, which committed to investing $150 million in the equity of Web Werks. The said transaction has enabled Web Werks to hasten its expansion strategies.

Global investors and top developers are showing considerable interest in India's market for data centres. The industry is experiencing the emergence of numerous novel markets and the swift expansion of extensive campuses in prominent urban areas like Mumbai and Chennai, indicating a potential chance for progress.
