Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, recently reviewed the progress of central government schemes in Bihar and expressed satisfaction with the developments. The review meeting, attended by Bihar's Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Jibesh Kumar, covered major urban projects, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Patna Metro, and PM eBus Sewa scheme.

According to Bihar's Housing and Urban Affairs Department, the state has been making steady progress in implementing various urban development projects. Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar acknowledged that initiatives related to affordable housing, urban infrastructure, and public transport services are advancing as planned.

In the area of housing, the minister assured that the government is on track to meet the demand for affordable homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) within the next five years. The scheme aims to provide housing for all, addressing the growing need for urban accommodation.

Metro development in Patna is also progressing, with a 6.2-km stretch of the metro expected to become operational by August 2025. This project is a major step toward improving urban mobility and easing traffic congestion in the city.

Public transport is set to improve further with the allocation of 500 electric buses under the PM eBus Sewa scheme. These buses will be deployed in various cities across Bihar, enhancing sustainable transport options and reducing environmental impact.

In addition to housing and transport, the central government has allocated Rs 269.44 crore under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 for solid and liquid waste management, as well as used water management. This funding is expected to strengthen sanitation infrastructure, contributing to cleaner and healthier urban areas in the state.

The central government remains committed to enhancing urban infrastructure in Bihar, ensuring better housing, public transport, and sanitation. With steady progress on multiple projects, the state is set to witness major improvements in urban living standards in the coming years.
