The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) has sealed portions of six hotels, including Hotel Friends Regency, Hotel Nagpal Regency, and Hotel Onn, for building violations. This action follows a Punjab and Haryana High Court directive to curb illegal construction. Hotel owners now face legal consequences for deviating from approved building plans. The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) has shut down certain parts of six hotels in the city. This move is part of their effort to tackle illegal construction. The hotels affected are Hotel Friends Regency, Hotel Nagpal Regency, Hotel Onn, Hotel Silver Stone, Hotel Diamond, and Hotel Surya Regency. The hotel owners may face serious legal issues because of these violations. Officials say the parts that were sealed didn't follow the approved building plans. Just recently, the MC also sealed a hotel under construction in Sarabha Nagar for the same reason. They are reminding everyone to get the right permits before starting any building work, so they don't face similar problems.
Ludhiana isn't alone. Amritsar has seen the district administration take similar actions against buildings that broke zoning rules. Earlier this year, multiple businesses in Amritsar were sealed for not following the rules. This is part of a wider effort to control illegal construction and manage city growth better.
In Jalandhar, another major city, the local government recently tore down illegal floors of a building that was built without proper permits. This follows a rise in illegal building activities. The Jalandhar administration is now closely checking construction sites to make sure everyone follows the rules.
Chandigarh's UT Administration is also working to tackle illegal building projects. They are focusing on areas where commercial building is happening in neighborhoods meant for homes. Authorities are stepping up enforcement and telling property owners to get the right approvals before starting any new construction.
As cities in Punjab are growing, illegal construction remains a big problem. Local officials stress the need for builders to follow the rules and get proper approvals. But many still skip these steps, which leads to fines and work stoppages.
