The South Goa district collector has announced a one-day special drive on January 25 to expedite the processing of pending applications under the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction Act, 2016. The initiative aims to bring together applicants and representatives from key departments, including the Public Works Department (PWD), Town and Country Planning, Forest Department, and Survey & Land Records Office, for streamlined decision-making. Applicants with constructions exceeding permissible limits will have the chance to revise their plans before facing rejection. A comprehensive list of pending applications were compiled, and technical departments submitted their reports by January 20.
The South Goa district collector announced a one-day special drive, scheduled for January 25, to expedite the processing of pending applications under the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction Act, 2016. This drive aims to address the increasing backlog of unauthorised construction applications, offering a streamlined approach for quicker decision-making. The initiative will bring together applicants and key department representatives, facilitating a more collaborative and efficient process.
The drive will be conducted across all deputy collectors' offices in South Goa, operating from 11 AM to 5 PM on the designated day. Representatives from the Public Works Department (PWD), Town and Country Planning Department, Forest Department, and Survey & Land Records Office will be present to process applications and make immediate decisions. By centralising these key departments in one location, the drive aims to eliminate delays and reduce the administrative burden, ensuring that applications are processed promptly.
A significant feature of the initiative is that applicants whose constructions exceed the permissible limits will not face immediate rejection. Instead, they will be given the opportunity to revise their plans and submit updated proposals. The revised plans were submitted by January 18 to remain eligible for processing. This allowed applicants to make necessary changes to comply with the regulations, ensuring fairness and providing a chance to meet the required standards.
The deputy collectors have been instructed to compile a comprehensive list of pending applications and notify applicants to bring the necessary documentation for processing. This ensures that no applicant faces delays due to missing paperwork. In addition, the district collector mandated that all technical departments submitted their reports by January 20. Any department failing to meet this deadline will face strict action.
The special drive organised by the South Goa district administration demonstrates a proactive and transparent approach to addressing unauthorised constructions. By centralising the decision-making process and offering applicants a chance to revise their plans, the initiative ensures fairness and efficiency. With a clear deadline for submission and strict actions for non-compliance, this drive is set to significantly reduce delays in the regularisation process. The outcomes are expected to enhance governance, ensuring improved regulatory compliance in South Goa's real estate sector.
