The Tamil Nadu State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) has granted environmental clearance for Tidel parks in Madurai and Trichy, with a combined investment of INR 579 crore. The Madurai Tidel Park, covering 9.97 acres with a built-up area of 5.67 lakh sq. ft., will cost INR 289 crore and create 5,500 jobs. Trichy's 11-acre park, with 5.5 lakh sq. ft., will cost INR 290 crore, generating 5,000 jobs. The foundation stones are expected to be laid within a month, marking a significant step in strengthening the state's IT and ITES ecosystem.
The Tamil Nadu State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) has granted environmental clearance for the construction of Tidel parks in Madurai and Trichy. This marks an important step forward for these projects, which aim to strengthen the state's IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) ecosystem. The tendering process for both parks is already complete, and foundation stones are expected to be laid within a month, according to officials from TIDEL Park Limited.
TIDEL Park Limited, an initiative by the Tamil Nadu government, proposed the construction of two new Tidel parks in Madurai and Trichy in December 2024. These parks are part of a larger strategy to boost IT and ITES infrastructure in smaller cities, encouraging economic development and job creation in Tamil Nadu.
The Madurai Tidel Park will be constructed near the Mattuthavani bus stand on a 9.97-acre site. With a built-up area of 5.67 lakh square feet, the project is estimated to cost 289 crore. The structure will consist of a ground floor and 12 additional floors, designed to include state-of-the-art facilities. It will feature plug-and-play workspaces, high-speed internet connectivity, conference rooms, incubation centres, and recreational spaces. Once completed, the park is expected to generate approximately 5,500 direct jobs, significantly contributing to Madurai's economic and technological growth.
In Trichy, the Tidel Park will be established near the integrated bus terminus at Panjappur, along the Trichy-Madurai national highway. The project will span 11 acres, with a built-up area of 5.5 lakh square feet, at an estimated cost of 290 crore. It will also feature modern facilities tailored for IT and ITES companies, ensuring cutting-edge infrastructure. The park is expected to create around 5,000 jobs, strengthening Trichy's position as a growing industrial hub.
After a thorough review process, the SEIAA has granted the necessary environmental clearance for both projects. With this approval in place, construction is expected to begin soon. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is likely to lay the foundation stones within the next month, and work is expected to start within two months.
These projects are set to become key IT infrastructure hubs in Tamil Nadu. By creating thousands of direct jobs and providing high-end facilities for IT companies, the parks will not only boost the local economies of Madurai and Trichy but also position these cities as vital contributors to the state's IT sector growth.
