Synopsis

The Uttar Pradesh government is launching a comprehensive survey of over 42,000 industrial units across seven industrial authorities, including Noida, Greater Noida, and YEIDA, to assess operational status and identify available land. Coordinated by UPSIDA and aided by a mobile app for real-time data collection, the survey aims to support Uttar Pradesh's $1 trillion economy target. It will detail land use, industry type, and operational metrics, focusing on repurposing defunct plots for new projects. Agencies will be selected for efficient data collection within four months, enhancing planning, investment, and job creation across the state's industrial landscape.

The Uttar Pradesh government is set to carry out a comprehensive survey of industrial units across its seven industrial development authorities. This initiative aims to create a detailed database of both operational and non-operational units, as well as to identify available land for future industrial use. The survey will cover over 42,000 industrial units statewide, focusing on key areas such as Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), which together house more than 15,000 units in Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) will coordinate the survey along with other authorities, including the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) and the UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The government expects the survey to be completed within four months from the start date. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance industrial growth in the state and contribute to the national goal of transforming India into a $5 trillion economy.

To facilitate the survey, the government has issued a request for proposals, inviting experienced agencies to participate in the data collection process. A mobile application has been developed to streamline this effort, allowing survey teams to gather real-time information during their visits. This technology will help ensure that the data collected is accurate and up-to-date.

Officials anticipate that the total number of industrial units may exceed initial estimates as survey agencies collaborate with local authorities. The survey will gather essential details about each industrial plot, including its size, type of land use, industry category, operational status, number of employees, and the products manufactured. By identifying both functional and non-operational units, the government aims to optimize land use and support more informed decision-making regarding industrial development.

This initiative aligns with the government's vision to make Uttar Pradesh a USD 1 trillion economy by enhancing the manufacturing sector's contribution to the state's growth. The survey's findings are expected to provide valuable insights into the current state of industrial operations, which will be crucial for future planning and investment strategies.

In addition to identifying operational units, the survey will focus on defunct or vacant plots, which could be repurposed for new industrial projects. By maximizing the utilization of available industrial land, the government hopes to attract more businesses and create job opportunities for residents.

The selection of surveying agencies will be based on their expertise, with each agency assigned specific packages of industrial areas to ensure thorough coverage. No single agency will be responsible for more than two packages, allowing for a more focused and efficient survey process.

Overall, this survey represents a significant step towards revitalizing the industrial landscape in Uttar Pradesh. By creating a reliable database of manufacturing units, the government aims to foster a more robust industrial environment that can drive economic growth and development in the region.
