Synopsis

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's North West Zone recently seized two reserved plots in Chandlodia and Thaltej wards, designated for a garden and commercial sale. Builders in Chandlodia and Gota faced fines of INR 25,000 and INR 40,000, respectively, for failing to install safety measures at construction sites. In a separate operation across areas like Ghatlodia and Vastrapur, 23 vehicles were penalised for illegal parking. The property tax department also sealed 1,795 properties citywide due to tax defaults, recovering substantial amounts in the process.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) North West Zone recently took possession of two reserved plots in Chandlodia and Thaltej wards. The Chandlodia plot, spanning 1,042 square metres, was reserved for a garden under Town Planning (TP) Scheme No. 36. The Thaltej plot, measuring 4,462 square metres, was reserved for commercial sale under TP Scheme No. 214.

A builder in Chandlodia was fined INR 25,000 for failing to install safety and green nets at a construction site. Similarly, a builder in Gota was penalised INR 40,000 for not implementing safety measures, such as nets and barricades.

Meanwhile, AMC took action against illegal parking in various city areas, including Ghatlodia and Vastrapur, penalising 23 vehicles parked unlawfully.

Last week, the AMC's property tax department sealed a total of 1,795 properties belonging to defaulters across the city. In the South-West Zone, 189 properties were sealed, and proceedings to seize 15 properties were initiated. Final notices were issued to 432 property owners, resulting in a recovery of INR 74.83 lakh. Similarly, in the East Zone, 1,606 properties were sealed, with INR 73.13 lakh recovered.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's consistent efforts to enforce compliance, from reclaiming reserved plots to penalising parking violators and property tax defaulters, reflect its commitment to urban management. These measures aim to uphold planning integrity, enhance safety standards, and ensure fair revenue recovery, fostering better governance and accountability across the city.
