The GMDA's DTP (Enforcement) team, led by RS Batth, conducted a large-scale demolition operation in Behrampur, Gurugram, targeting illegal constructions across 70 acres. In a major move to tackle illegal construction activities, the DTP (Enforcement) team of the GMDA, led by RS Batth, carried out a large-scale demolition operation in Behrampur, Gurugram. The operation targeted illegal structures spread across a sprawling 70-acre area, with 50 police personnel and three earthmovers deployed to dismantle the constructions. The team managed to demolish around 100 illegal structures, including 25 boundary walls, 10 under-construction buildings, a 1.5 km road, and a number of illegal borewells, all of which were built without proper legal approvals or permits. This crackdown is part of the GMDA's ongoing efforts to combat the spread of illegal constructions in the region.


During the operation, RS Batth revealed that the enforcement team had come across multiple agreements between homeowners and local property dealers, who had been involved in selling plots without the necessary legal clearances. Batth confirmed that FIRs (First Information Reports) would be filed against the property dealers involved in these illegal transactions within the next seven days. The authorities are focusing on holding these dealers accountable for exploiting unsuspecting buyers. In addition to the demolition, further legal action will be pursued against these dealers for their role in deceiving homebuyers and facilitating illegal land deals.

The enforcement team discovered that the plots being sold in the area were priced between INR 15,000 and INR 25,000 per square yard. However, these deals were carried out through general power of attorney agreements, bypassing the necessary legal processes and clearances that should have been in place for such transactions. Property dealers from the Maruti Kunj area, as well as individuals from Delhi, were identified as the main players in these illegal activities. They had been selling these plots to buyers under the false promise of legitimate ownership and future development.

The authorities have strongly condemned the actions of these property dealers, emphasising that they will not tolerate any attempts to exploit vulnerable buyers, especially those who are looking to purchase land as an investment. The officials warned that such fraudulent activities, which misuse the hard-earned money of the poor, would not be allowed to continue. In addition, Batth clarified that the land, originally owned by the village panchayat, had been transferred to private individuals under dubious circumstances. The questionable transactions involved in this land transfer have raised concerns over the integrity of the land dealings in the area.

This crackdown serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing issues related to illegal construction and property dealings in Gurugram. The GMDA's efforts to clamp down on such activities highlight their commitment to safeguarding the interests of legitimate property buyers and preventing the spread of unauthorised developments in the region.
