The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has prepared a list of 615 farmers from seven villages to allocate developed residential plots within a month. This follows the recommendations of a committee formed earlier this year, which was tasked with addressing farmers' demands. The committee's report has been submitted, and GNIDA is now putting its plan into action. On December 7, top officials met to discuss the implementation, and GNIDA's CEO has directed the land records department to fast-track the process. In addition, camps will be set up in 62 villages to assess the eligibility of 3,532 other farmers.
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has recently compiled a list of 615 farmers from seven villages who are set to receive developed residential plots within a month. This development is the result of a government initiative earlier this year, where a three-member committee was formed to address the long-standing issues raised by farmers in the region. The committee, headed by the chairman of the revenue council, and comprising the Meerut commissioner and the district magistrate of GB Nagar, worked diligently to evaluate and make recommendations regarding the farmers' demands. In response to the committee's recommendations, GNIDA has taken the necessary steps to implement the suggested changes. This includes the fast-tracking of the allocation process, which was further discussed and endorsed during a high-level meeting earlier this month. On December 7, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and Director-General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar convened with GNIDA officials, police authorities, and the administration to review the committee's recommendations and provide further instructions for the speedy resolution of farmers' concerns.
The farmers' demands primarily focus on the allocation of developed plots and an increase in compensation for land acquired by the government. These protests have been ongoing for the last two weeks, as farmers have raised concerns about the adequacy of previous compensatory measures. GNIDA's CEO, NG Ravi Kumar, assured that, in line with the government's directives, the land records department has been instructed to expedite the entire process. According to him, the authority is committed to completing the plot distribution to the 615 farmers as part of the first phase within the next month.
In addition to the allocation of plots to the initial 615 farmers, GNIDA is also conducting a wider eligibility assessment to ensure that additional farmers are included in the process. A series of camps will be held across 62 villages starting December 14, aimed at determining the eligibility of 3,532 other farmers for compensation and residential plots. The first camps are set to take place in Sirajpur and Kailashpur villages, where farmers will be assessed and their claims verified.
This initiative is a significant step towards resolving the farmers' grievances, ensuring that their demands for fair compensation and residential plots are met. The expedited process reflects GNIDA's commitment to addressing the protests and delivering the promises made to the farmers. If all goes according to plan, the first batch of farmers will receive their residential plots within a month, marking a notable victory in the ongoing efforts to address land acquisition issues and farmer welfare in the Greater Noida region.
