The modified Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the extension of the Noida Metro's Aqua Line corridor has been submitted to the Centre for final approval. This extension will connect Sector 51 to Knowledge Park-V in Greater Noida and has been recently approved by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet. The project, estimated to cost INR 2,991.60 crore, involves the addition of 17.435 km and 11 new stations, offering better urban connectivity and alleviating traffic congestion. Officials highlight its significance in improving public transport infrastructure and connecting key areas in Noida and Greater Noida.
The revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Noida Metro Aqua Line extension, which will link Sector 51 to Knowledge Park-V in Greater Noida, has been submitted to the Centre for final approval. The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet had earlier approved the modified DPR for the INR 2,991.60 crore project, according to Lokesh M, Managing Director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC).
Lokesh M described the project as a crucial step towards improving public transport infrastructure, noting its ability to boost urban connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion in the region. The extension, which will span 17.435 km, will add 11 new stations to the Aqua Line. These stations include the existing Sector 51, Sector 61 (where passengers can interchange with the DMRC Blue Line), Sector 70, Sector 122, Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Eco Tech-12, Greater Noida Sectors 2, 3, 10, and 12, as well as Knowledge Park-V.
He emphasised that the extension will provide significant relief to commuters by reducing road traffic along Vikas Marg and the Noida-Greater Noida Link Road. Additionally, it will improve access to both the Aqua Line and the DMRC Blue Line, enhancing overall public transport connectivity.
The Noida Metro Aqua Line extension project is set to significantly improve transportation infrastructure in the region. The extension will not only ease commuter travel but will also provide much-needed relief to the region's busy roads, especially along Vikas Marg and the Noida-Greater Noida Link Road.
