Ujjain is all set to establish its first-ever Information Technology (IT) Park, aimed at providing a plug-and-play facility for technology firms and startups. This ambitious project, which spans over 2 hectares, is being developed by the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) with a substantial investment of INR 48 crore. The IT Park will cater to approximately 30 IT firms, offering them ready-to-use office spaces on a rental or lease basis. The project is expected to generate over 500 direct employment opportunities and more than 1,000 indirect jobs, boosting Ujjain's local economy and creating a thriving tech ecosystem.
Rajesh Rathod, the executive director of MPIDC in Ujjain, highlighted the strategic advantages of the park, emphasizing its cost-effective operational setup. With affordable office spaces and a generally lower cost of living for employees, Ujjain offers a favorable environment for IT companies to thrive. Furthermore, the city's ongoing infrastructure development, along with its location, will provide ample opportunities for growth and expansion for tech businesses. The IT Park will house a variety of facilities, including an incubation center, research labs, and dedicated spaces for startups, creating an ecosystem that encourages innovation and collaboration.
Scheduled for completion by 2025, the park is already drawing significant interest from potential investors. MPIDC has reported receiving investment proposals that are 1.5 times higher than initially anticipated, reflecting the growing demand for such a facility in the region. Rathod also emphasized the park's focus on local entrepreneurs, stating that preference will be given to emerging businesses from the area.
In the second phase of development, MPIDC plans to expand the park's facilities, aiming to attract more companies and investors to the region. This expansion will further solidify Ujjain's position as an emerging IT hub in Madhya Pradesh.
The proposed IT Park in Ujjain represents a significant step toward boosting the region's technology sector. By providing affordable and scalable infrastructure, the park promises to attract startups and established IT firms while generating substantial employment opportunities. Its focus on fostering local entrepreneurship, coupled with plans for future expansion, underscores the city's ambition to emerge as a competitive destination for tech innovation. The project not only supports economic growth but also reinforces Ujjain's potential as a thriving IT hub.
