Synopsis

Sri City, an integrated business hub in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district, is set to expand with an additional 2,000 acres allocated by the state government. Since its establishment in 2008, the industrial area has grown to host 220 companies from 30 countries, achieving USD 4 billion in exports and USD 4.5 billion in investments. With 95% of its 62,000 workforce from nearby villages, Sri City exemplifies community-focused industrial development. The expansion aligns with the government's goal of creating 20 lakh jobs over five years by fostering investments and industrial growth, solidifying Sri City's status as a model industrial hub in Asia.

Sri City, a rapidly growing integrated business hub in Tirupati district near the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border, is gearing up for a major expansion. The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to allocate 2,000 more acres to this flourishing industrial area, which has demonstrated remarkable progress since its establishment around 15 years ago.

In 2008, the Andhra Pradesh government allocated 8,000 acres near Satyavedu and Varadaiahpalem mandals in Tirupati district to establish Sri City. Over the past 16 years, this once underdeveloped region has been transformed into a leading model for industrial growth in Asia.

Today, Sri City is home to 220 companies from 30 countries, with total exports reaching USD 4 billion and investments amounting to USD 4.5 billion. This remarkable progress reflects the city's rapid industrial development over the last decade and a half. Major companies operating from Sri City include Mondelez International, Colgate-Palmolive, Alstom Transport, Hero MotoCorp, and Apollo Tyres.

A key highlight of Sri City's growth is that 95% of the 62,000 people employed in its industrial units come from nearby villages, providing significant opportunities for the local community.Considering these factors, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, after inaugurating 15 industrial units with a total investment of INR 1,570 crore, directed officials to secure around 2,000 acres for Sri City's expansion.

The state government's decision to allocate this land near Padirikuppam and surrounding areas aligns with the NDA alliance's commitment to create 20 lakh jobs over the next five years by boosting investments and driving industrial growth in the state.
