Earlier this week, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) took a decisive step in accelerating the city's infrastructural progress. Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee held a strategic meeting with Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumbhare, accompanied by project engineers, to discuss and expedite permissions crucial to nine major infrastructure initiatives. This collaborative effort resulted in the approval of 17 long-pending traffic-related permissions, paving the way for uninterrupted project progress.
These permissions, essential for projects such as the Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector, Metro Lines 2B, 6, 7A, and 9, the Missing Link Flyover, and various other critical undertakings, reflect a pivotal breakthrough in overcoming bureaucratic delays. For instance, approvals were granted for traffic diversions, road closures, and signal pole adjustments that directly impact project timelines and execution.
The Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector project received permissions for key operations, including road closures and girder launching. Similarly, Metro Line 2B, connecting D.N. Nagar to Mandale, secured traffic diversion permissions at crucial junctions such as Bandra and Milan Subway. The Missing Link Flyover and Metro Lines 6, 7A, and 9 also saw critical permissions extended or approved, ensuring sustained progress.
Dr. Mukherjee emphasised the importance of such permissions in realising Mumbai's infrastructural vision.
