The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) is actively identifying land parcels across the state to establish new industrial zones and clusters. This initiative aims to attract local investors to set up manufacturing facilities. MPIDC is focusing on enhancing infrastructure, with plans to build an effluent treatment plant, improve road connectivity, and ensure a reliable water supply at these zones. The state government is prioritising these developments to create a favourable environment for local industries, particularly in sectors like food processing, fabrication, and chemicals.
The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has announced plans to invest over INR 200 crore in the development of at least three new industrial zones during the current 2024-25 financial year. The new industrial zones at Maksi, Shajapur, and Jaggakhedi in Mandsaur district are set to be developed in the 2025 financial year. MPIDC plans to develop Phase 2 of Maksi on approximately 55 hectares, while Shajapur will be developed on 100 hectares. Additionally, Phase 2 of the Jaggakhedi industrial area is planned for 72 hectares. The estimated cost for developing these industrial zones is around INR 223 crore.
An MPIDC official recently told the press that development work has begun, and the three new industrial areas-Maksi, Shajapur, and Jaggakhedi-are expected to become operational within the current fiscal year. The project report has been finalised, and construction is progressing at different stages in these zones.
According to the local chapter of Laghu Udyog Bharati, over 300 micro and small industries, specialising in food processing, fabrication, chemicals, and engineering, have shown interest in setting up manufacturing units in Agar-Malwa and Shajapur districts. MPIDC has engaged in discussions with local industrialists and industry associations to better understand their requirements and the demand for the proposed industrial zones.
The industry department is proactively identifying land parcels across the state to create new industrial zones and clusters aimed at attracting local investors to set up facilities. MPIDC is working on strategic improvements to the infrastructure, including the construction of an effluent treatment plant, road development, and ensuring a steady water supply at the designated industrial areas in the state.
By strategically upgrading infrastructure and developing new industrial zones, MPIDC aims to transform Madhya Pradesh into a hub for local industries. The creation of new clusters will not only draw investments but also improve the state's industrial landscape, creating opportunities for micro and small enterprises. The focus on essential infrastructure, such as road development and water supply, will ensure that businesses have the necessary resources to thrive. As a result, these developments are expected to enhance the state's manufacturing capacity, generate employment, and boost economic growth, driving the industrial sector forward in Madhya Pradesh.
