Synopsis

Oberoi Hotels & Resorts is set to enter the UK market with a luxury property in London's Mayfair as part of Grosvenor's expansive South Molton development. With construction underway and full completion expected by 2027, this mixed-use development will feature the hotel alongside office, residential, and retail spaces. This project, marking a significant international step for Oberoi, aligns with the brand's ongoing expansion beyond its existing portfolio in India, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Mauritius.

Luxury hospitality brand Oberoi Hotels & Resorts is preparing to make its debut in the UK with a landmark property in London's prestigious Mayfair district. Grosvenor and EIH London Investments recently announced that the South Molton area will host the first Oberoi Hotel in the UK. Construction began earlier this month, with the full project slated for completion by the close of 2027.

Grosvenor secured planning approval in 2022 to restore the historic 33,000 sq. ft listed building as part of its larger South Molton development. Currently the largest mixed-use development in the West End, the project will incorporate the Oberoi hotel alongside new office spaces, residential areas, cafes, shops, restaurants, and dedicated community and leisure spaces.

Arjun Oberoi, Executive Chairman of The Oberoi Group, expressed that the partnership with Grosvenor represents a major step in the brand's international expansion. He noted London's significance as a key destination for Oberoi's clientele and conveyed excitement about introducing the group's distinctive hospitality style to London's vibrant Mayfair. He described The Oberoi, Mayfair, as both a celebration of the brand in a prime location and an opportunity to serve international guests in the heart of the city.

Rachel Dickie, Executive Director of Investment and Development at Grosvenor, highlighted that securing a brand as esteemed as Oberoi Hotels & Resorts for South Molton illustrates their vision of creating a destination of global prominence. She expressed excitement about having such a significant brand anchor the project at this early stage.

Apart from India, Oberoi's portfolio includes properties in Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Mauritius. Vikram Oberoi, Managing Director and CEO of The Oberoi Group, added that the Mayfair project marks a pivotal moment in the brand's global expansion, promising an intimate luxury retreat in the lively heart of Mayfair that captures London's dynamic spirit. JLL advised Grosvenor on the deal, while Johnny Sandelson represented EIH London Investments, as noted in the announcement.

Oberoi Hotels' first UK property in Mayfair reflects the brand's commitment to expanding its distinctive luxury hospitality experience on a global scale. Partnering with Grosvenor on this major mixed-use development, Oberoi's Mayfair property is poised to become an iconic presence in one of London's most prestigious districts. With its combination of high-end amenities and prime location, The Oberoi, Mayfair, is set to attract both local and international guests, solidifying the brand's status as a leader in the luxury hospitality sector.
