The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) launched a demolition drive in the Belapur division to remove unauthorized constructions after the concerned parties failed to respond to notices. The action was led by Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and guided by Dr. Rahul Gethe. Unauthorized constructions in Karave were demolished under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. The operation involved 15 labourers and was supported by police personnel.
The Anti-Encroachment Department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) launched a demolition drive in the Belapur division following the failure of concerned parties to heed notices regarding unauthorized constructions. This action was taken under the instructions of Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and the guidance of Dr. Rahul Gethe.
In the A division of the NMMC jurisdiction, unauthorized constructions were found to be taking place at the following locations without the necessary municipal approval: Mr. Shantarama Mahadu Tandale, House No. 839, Karave; Mr. Sahedev Tukaram Bhoi, Karave village; and Mrs. Sangeetabai Chandrakant Patil, House No. 836, Karave. These constructions were commenced without any permission from the municipal authorities.
Notices were issued to the concerned parties under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. They were instructed to remove the illegal structures themselves. Despite receiving the notice, the parties continued their construction activities, prompting the Anti-Encroachment Department to take swift action.
The demolition operation was carried out by the department's team, led by Assistant Commissioner and Division Officer Dr. Shrikant Todkar, and Junior Engineer Mr. Mayuresh Pawar. The team used 15 labourers, 2 gas cutters, and 2 hammers for the operation. Police personnel from the Anti-Encroachment Department were also deployed to ensure the smooth execution of the drive.
This action is part of the NMMC's continued efforts to address and prevent illegal constructions within its jurisdiction. The department has made it clear that similar operations will be carried out with increased intensity, as part of its commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting public spaces.
This proactive demolition drive reflects NMMC's strong stance against illegal constructions. With continued efforts, the corporation aims to ensure better urban planning and uphold legal regulations, promising further intensified action in the future.
