The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in Gurugram recently sealed five residential buildings in DLF 1 and 2, as well as South City 2 for violating building norms. Additionally, a maintenance office that was set up in the parking lot of an affordable housing project was also sealed. The DTCP found that the violators carried out unauthorized construction in the buildings after obtaining occupation certificates (OCs) from the department.
The enforcement action was taken on the basis of seven complaints filed on the Chief Minister's online complaint window. After complaints were forwarded to the department, a team of officials was sent to the sites. They found that illegal construction was carried out in the stilt parking area of two houses, and illegal construction on the second floor of another house. All three houses were sealed by the enforcement team on the spot. Similarly, three floors with stilt parking at a residential property and four floors with stilt parking of another residential property in DLF2 were also sealed for violations.
District Town Planner (Enforcement) Manish Yadav stated that the department received complaints regarding illegal construction in houses after obtaining occupation certificates, which is in violation of Haryana Building Code rules. The department first issued show cause notices and restoration orders in all cases, but when no satisfactory response was received from the property owners, the DTCP's enforcement team carried out a sealing drive.
Furthermore, the enforcement team discovered that a residential property in South City 2 was conducting unauthorized commercial activities in its basement, resulting in the sealing of the basement. In addition, the team also found that a maintenance office was operating in the parking lot of the Alayas affordable housing society, leading to the sealing of the office as well.
