Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty, along with his son Ahan Shetty, recently acquired a 1,200-square-foot property in Mumbai's Khar West (Bandra) neighbourhood through a bank auction. The transaction, valued at INR 8.01 crore, was documented in property registration records accessed via proptech platform Square Yards. Square Yards revealed that the acquisition was formalised with a 'Sale Certificate,' confirming that the father-son duo secured the property through the auction process held by the bank.

The transaction was finalised earlier this month and involved a stamp duty fee of INR 40.08 lakh, along with a registration fee of INR 30,000, as indicated in the documents. Attempts to reach Sunil Shetty for comment were unsuccessful.

Square Yards highlighted that a number of other notable celebrities, including Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, KL Rahul, and Athiya Shetty, have also invested in Bandra, Mumbai, recently. This area is highly sought after due to its close proximity to the Bandra-Kurla Complex and the bustling commercial hubs of Worli and Andheri.

The locality is highly desirable among high-profile homebuyers, thanks to its premium amenities, outstanding infrastructure, and excellent connectivity not only to key areas but also to the international airport, according to Square Yards.

Earlier this week, the Bollywood father-son duo Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan grabbed attention for acquiring ten apartments valued at INR 24.95 crore in Mumbai's Mulund area.

The ten apartments were acquired in a project called Oberoi Eternia, developed by Oberoi Realty, as revealed in the property registration documents shared by Square Yards.

Out of the ten apartments, eight feature a carpet area of 1,049 square feet each, while the remaining two units measure 912 square feet each, according to the documents.

A stamp duty of INR 1.50 crore, along with registration fees of INR 3 lakh, was paid for the ten apartments, as indicated in the documents. All the apartments were registered earlier this month.

For decades, Mumbai's property market has drawn significant interest from the Bollywood fraternity, particularly in commercial real estate. A long list of celebrity investors includes marquee names, as well as younger actors like Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan. Experts attribute this trend to the high rental yields in commercial properties and the capital appreciation of residential real estate in the financial capital.

The recent property acquisitions by Bollywood figures, including Sunil and Ahan Shetty's purchase in Khar West and Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan's investment in Mulund, underscore the ongoing appeal of Mumbai's real estate market. This trend highlights the locality's desirability, driven by excellent amenities, infrastructure, and connectivity. With a growing roster of celebrity investors, including rising stars like Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan, the market is not only thriving but also indicative of broader trends in commercial and residential real estate, making it a focal point for high-profile investments.
