After the successful launch of three housing schemes in Jasola, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has unveiled a detailed plan for improving civic services across Pockets 9A, 9B, and 6. The year-long project involves maintaining 320 HIG flats, desilting sewer lines, and addressing sanitation concerns. Additionally, DDA will repair and upgrade roads, drains, and footpaths in the area, addressing long-standing complaints about waterlogging and inadequate maintenance. With a budget of INR 3.3 crore, the plan also includes pedestrian walkway construction and repairs on Church Road, heavily impacted by traffic to the local sewage treatment plant.
Following the positive response to the flats offered in the three housing schemes launched in Jasola in August, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has finalised a comprehensive plan for the maintenance and upkeep of civic services in various areas, including Pockets 9A, 9B, and 6, to be carried out in phases.
While DDA is still coordinating with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to transfer responsibility for sanitation services in these pockets, it has decided to appoint agencies to handle these tasks for a year to ensure residents' convenience. The project includes the upkeep of 320 high-income group (HIG) flats in Pocket 9A, with plans to desilt internal sewer lines using super-sucker machines and clean the drains. DDA will also oversee routine cleaning, sweeping, and maintenance of internal roads and common areas at Jasola Heights.
An agency will oversee the daily maintenance and address complaints related to both external and internal services at the DDA HIG flats in Pocket 9B for one year. The comprehensive project also includes the repair and maintenance of the local shopping centre and a community hall in Pocket 6.
According to officials, there have been consistent complaints from residents about inadequate cleaning of internal lanes in their housing areas, prompting efforts to resolve sanitation issues and improve the overall living conditions. In August, DDA conducted a survey of the area and decided to undertake a complete overhaul of roads, drains, and footpaths in Jasola. Additionally, a separate proposal has been finalised for the repair of roads and the construction of missing drains and footpaths at District Centre Jasola and in Pockets I and III, with an estimated budget of INR 3.3 crore.
The project will address perennial water logging issues, repair damaged roads, and construct missing drains to prevent water accumulation, according to officials. Tenders for the project will soon be reissued. Initiated after discussions with local residents' welfare associations and residents, the project will also have a second phase.
A survey highlighted water logging issues in the open area behind the District Centre, near the parking lot, as well as missing drains and footpaths opposite the centre. The project also aims to develop pedestrian walkways throughout the colony.
On Church Road, which connects to Jasola Village Road, concrete stretches were laid by DDA around nine years ago. However, heavy vehicle traffic to the sewage treatment plant has caused significant damage over time, leading to long-standing demands for proper repairs. Officials added that DDA will also reconstruct damaged drains before repairing the road, extending to Jasola Sports Complex Road.
DDA's project aims to resolve pressing infrastructure issues in Jasola, improving sanitation, addressing waterlogging, and enhancing the overall living environment for residents through phased civic service upgrades.
