Gurugram officials have taken decisive action against building code violations in the city. In response to complaints received via the CM window, District Town Planner (Enforcement) Manish Yadav led enforcement actions against two residential properties in DLF 1 and an unauthorized office operating in the basement of Palm Springs Plaza on Golf Course Road. The properties violated provisions of the occupation certificate, prompting the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) to seal the buildings.
Both residential properties in DLF 1 had illegal constructions in the stilt areas, violating the Haryana Building Code. Property G 19/2 had a room constructed in the stilt area after obtaining the occupation certificate, while property G 19/17 carried out unauthorized construction in the form of a room in the stilt area and covered the cut-out area, among other violations. Consequently, three floors were sealed in property G 19/17 as part of the crackdown.
Meanwhile, an IT company's office, staffed by approximately 15 employees, was found to be operating unlawfully from the basement of Palm Springs Plaza on Golf Course Road. The space, leased to Mojo Innovative, was being used as a data centre, housing computers and servers. However, the staff present could not explain the nature of their business activities, raising suspicions about the legality of the operations.
Yadav clarified that basements are permitted for storage and parking purposes only, with commercial use of the area being strictly prohibited. Violating these norms can lead to severe penalties and legal consequences for property owners and businesses alike.
In addition to the residential properties and unauthorized office, the enforcement team also sealed an area encroached by a cafe on Golf Course Road. This action further demonstrates the local government's commitment to upholding regulations and ensuring a safe living and working environment for its residents.
