The Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board is set to allot 336 Low Income Group and Economically Weaker Section flats to non-locals under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) mission. The flats are available for a monthly rent of Rs. 2200 per flat for a period of three years which can be extended to five years under certain terms and conditions. The allotment will be made in three phases, and families with incomes below 3 lakhs per annum for EWS and less than 6 lakhs per annum for LIG are eligible to apply. The site is located near major industrial estates and educational and health infrastructure.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) mission, the Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board will allot 336 (LIG) Low Income Group and (EWS) Economically Weaker Section flats to non-locals. All migrants were invited to apply online for allotment of flats up to May 15th.
The site is suitably located at Sunjwan Close to the major industrial estates Gangyaland Bari Brahmna. The flats were available on a monthly rent of Rs.2200 per flat for 290 sq ft. For a period of three years which would be extended for five years under certain terms and conditions. The allotment will be made in 3 phases.
As per the scheme, families with income less than 3 lakhs per annum for EWS and less than 6 lakhs per annum for LIG residing in rented houses in and around Jammu city are eligible to apply for the flats. The applicant has to apply online and submit proof of income, employment or education under ARHC.
Labourers, vendors, rickshaw pullers, industrial workers, migrants, long term tourists or visitors, students and other service providers would be provided a rented flat by the Housing Board of Jammu. Poor urban migrants who lived in shacks to save their earnings and compromise the basic necessities of housing could benefit from this scheme as the site is in the vicinity of major industrial estates and educational and health infrastructure.
All the buildings will be earthquake resistant. The flats will have a carpet area of 290 sq ft and the rental would be Rs.2,200 per month. If the terms and conditions in the agreement are fulfilled the period of tenancy will be three years and later extended to five years. 96 units were allotted on April 30 ,112 units will be allotted on June 30 and 128 units by October 31 this year.
The Housing Board of Jammu has created sustainable and affordable rental housing for the poor and urban migrants with all civic amenities. These houses have also been constructed in rural areas. 760 EWS flats were undertaken in Bhalwal, Ganderbal, Birpur, Samba, Chak Bhalwal, Chani Rama, Watapura, Bandiporaand many more. The J-K Housing Board has developed and allotted more than 10,000 plots under self-financing schemes.
