Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated two Neo Tidel parks in Thanjavur and Salem districts last week, providing a total seating capacity of around 1,000. Each facility, spanning 55,000 sq ft and designed as G+3 structures, is part of the government's initiative to extend information technology jobs to tier-II and tier-III cities in the state.
During a ceremony at the state secretariat, CM Stalin virtually launched the parks and issued work orders for the companies relocating there. The Salem facility, located in Anaikavundanpatti and Karuppur villages, was built at a cost of INR 29.5 crore and has already secured commitments for 70% of its capacity. Meanwhile, the Thanjavur facility in Pillayarpatti village has commitments for 30% of its capacity.
Sandeep Nanduri, managing director of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), mentioned that IT, ITES, health-tech companies, and startups are expressing interest in these locations. He stated that they were negotiating with additional clients and that more work orders would be issued in two weeks.The demand for these facilities is strong, as finding quality office spaces in smaller cities remains a challenge. TIDCO has also secured clients for the Vellore facility even before its completion.
The Tuticorin project is expected to be ready in a month, while parks in Vellore and Tirupur are slated for inauguration by the end of the year. Earlier in February, Stalin opened a 63,000 sq ft Neo Tidel park in Villupuram. The government had announced the establishment of seven Neo Tidel parks in its 2021-22 budget.
