Indore District begins process to grant land ownership rights to 29 villages

Synopsis

The Indore district administration has launched an initiative to grant land ownership rights to residents of 29 villages incorporated into the municipal corporation in 2014. This move addresses long-standing challenges faced by residents without formal land ownership documents, which hindered property sales and access to loans. Under guidelines from the Revenue Department, eligible residents can apply for a 30-year lease, simplifying property transactions and development. Camps will be set up at tehsil offices to collect applications on September 29, 2024. Required documents include utility bills, census records, and voter lists. This initiative aims to formalize land rights and boost economic development in the area.

The district administration of Indore has initiated the process of granting land ownership rights to residents of 29 villages that were incorporated into the municipal corporation in 2014. This move aims to provide landholding rights to occupants of residential land who currently do not have formal leases or ownership documents, making it difficult for them to sell their property or obtain loans for development. Residents, along with their heirs or transferees, are now eligible to apply for these rights under the guidelines set by the Revenue Department on September 24, 2020.

During a recent meeting in Indore, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav instructed the district authorities to expedite the process of granting land rights. Many residents in these villages have been facing challenges due to a lack of formal documentation like leases or registrations. Without these, selling homes or obtaining loans for new construction has been difficult for landowners within the municipal limits.

The new initiative allows eligible residents to apply for a 30-year lease on their land. This lease will enable them to obtain loans, sell, or transfer their property more easily. To facilitate the process, camps will be set up at tehsil offices in Juni Indore, Malharganj, Rau, Bicholi Hapsi, and Kanadia on September 29, 2024, to collect applications from residents. Once the applications are verified, leases will be issued to qualified applicants.

According to SDM Rau Vinod Rathore, residents can submit their lease applications online at these camps. To apply, applicants need to bring the necessary documents, which include an electricity bill, water supply bill, correspondence or documents from a government office, an address from the 2011 census, a property tax receipt, and their name and address from the voter list.

This initiative is expected to significantly ease the challenges faced by residents of these 29 villages by formalizing their land ownership rights, making property transactions and development more accessible.
