The government of Uttarakhand has announced plans to build eight new townships, each with its own theme, in order to attract investment and accommodate the rapid population growth seen in urban areas over the past two decades. Two more sites are currently being studied as well.

The government has already submitted proposals for two of the townships to the central government: one in the Parag Farm area of Udham Singh Nagar and the other on the outskirts of Dehradun in an area called Doiwala. These proposals are part of a larger plan that originally included 20 locations, of which ten have been shortlisted. Eight of the projects have finalized plans and themes, while the remaining two are still being developed by experts.

In a recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami requested a package worth Rs 1,000 crore to develop the Parag Farm area in Kiccha, which covers an area of 378 hectares. The chief minister also expects private investment of around Rs 7,000 crore for this project. Parag Farm is located on the route to the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor and is only 15 km from the district headquarters of Rudrapur. The project aims to generate 50,000 jobs.

Dehradun has seen significant population growth over the past two decades, prompting authorities to plan the Doiwala township. This township will be an integrated township spread over 3,080 hectares of land that is equidistant from Rishikesh, Dehradun, and Haridwar.

The six other proposed projects include a Film City on 77 hectares of land near Naini Saini airport in Pithoragarh, Doon Twin City on 719 hectares of land from the Arcadia tea garden in Dehradun, Cyber City on 1,672 hectares of land in the Sahaspur area of Dehradun, Wellness Township on 50 hectares of land in Gauchar, Haldwani Twin City on 2,840 hectares of land near Gaulapar, and a Tourism Township on 4,365 hectares of land in Ramnagar.

In addition to the development of new townships, the state government has implemented a variety of initiatives designed to stimulate economic growth in the state. These include the creation of special economic zones, the development of tourism infrastructure, and the promotion of the state's natural resources.

The government is working hard to make Uttarakhand an attractive investment destination and a hub of economic growth in the region. With the development of these townships, the government aims to create more employment opportunities for the people of Uttarakhand and to provide them with a better quality of life.

Overall, the government's plans to develop new townships in Uttarakhand are a significant step forward for the state's economy and infrastructure. The projects are designed to attract investment, create jobs, and improve the lives of the people living in the state. By taking a forward-looking approach, the government hopes to ensure that Uttarakhand continues to thrive and grow in the years to come.
