Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Survey and Settlement has invited proposals for high-resolution satellite imagery covering about 1.3 lakh sq km, aiming to modernise the state's land-record system. The 30-cm imagery will be integrated into the Tamil Nadu GIS platform, enabling a shift from traditional 2D maps to precise geospatial maps with latitude-longitude accuracy. Officials say this will reduce boundary disputes, improve urban mapping and support faster patta transfers, subdivision approvals, and land-use reclassification. It will also help detect encroachments and strengthen planning, environmental monitoring and disaster management. The initiative complements Tamil Nadu's recent push to digitise land administration and provide easier online access to land records.Read more

The Bangalore Apartments Federation (BAF), representing over 1,400 RWAs, has urged the State government to introduce the Karnataka Apartment Ownership and Management Act (KAOMA) in the upcoming Belagavi session. BAF says the outdated 1972 Act no longer meets the needs of Bengaluru's growing apartment communities, leaving many homeowners in a 'legal vacuum.' The proposed law seeks clear transfer of ownership and UDS from builders to buyers, defined rules for forming and running owners' associations, and time-bound mechanisms to resolve disputes on conveyance, maintenance and redevelopment. With no dedicated authority for grievance redressal today, BAF says KAOMA is essential to provide clarity, protect owners' rights and modernise apartment governance across Karnataka.Read more

The government has updated its highway contract rules to make toll-based projects more secure for private investors and lenders. The new framework introduces revenue support when traffic stays below projections, extensions in toll-collection periods to offset demand shortfalls, and reductions in tolling periods when traffic exceeds expected levels. It also allows project buyback if a road becomes over-utilised and ensures debt repayment through concessionaire substitution in case of default. These changes aim to reduce demand-related risks and revive private participation in national highway development.Read more

Jaipur's municipal heritage wing has issued a three-month sealing order for an old building in the Walled City's Chaura Rasta after discovering renovation work being carried out without mandatory approval. The action, taken under the JMC Act 2009, has also restricted access to adjoining shops. Officials reiterated that any repair, alteration or facade change to heritage structures requires prior clearance from the heritage-conservation cell, and violations can lead to sealing or even demolition. The move comes amid growing concern over unauthorised construction and structural modifications across the Walled City. Authorities say the latest action reflects a renewed push to safeguard heritage and improve regulatory compliance.Read more

The Himachal Pradesh state assembly has passed the RERA Amendment Bill amid opposition protests and a walkout. The bill shifts the authority to select the RERA chairperson and members from a committee led by the High Court Chief Justice to one headed by the State Chief Secretary. The new panel will include the Housing Department Secretary and the Law Secretary, with provisions for another senior official to step in if needed. The amendment also replaces the five-year term with a fixed, non-renewable four-year tenure. Opposition leaders argued the change reduces judicial oversight and violates the spirit of the central RERA Act, while the government said it will improve efficiency and speed up appointments.Read more

A parliamentary standing committee has advised the government to set up special fast-track courts and strengthen the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) structure to reduce the rising backlog of insolvency cases. With nearly 30,600 matters pending and the average resolution period stretching to 713 days, the committee believes additional benches and procedural changes are needed. It noted that quicker resolutions could help creditors recover INR 3-5 lakh crore by preventing value loss in stressed assets. The committee also proposed changes for homebuyers, SMEs, cross-border cases and the overall IBC process.Read more

Earlier actions by the ED had included freezing bank accounts and other assets worth INR 12.8 crore.Read more
