Major urban expansion on cards in Haryana as HSVP moves to procure land and launch new sectors in Gurugram after 20 years

The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has initiated its most significant urban expansion strategy in over two decades, setting in motion plans to procure and develop large tracts of land for new residential and commercial sectors in Gurugram and other parts of Haryana. The policy shift, which follows the recent merger of the erstwhile Housing Board into HSVP, aims to diversify urban growth beyond private-sector-driven projects and respond to rising housing demand and infrastructure pressure in key National Capital Region (NCR) markets. Phase-wise land procurement will involve consent-based acquisition and direct purchases of landowners parcels through online platforms such as the e-Bhoomi portal, with an estimated 1.67 lakh acres statewide earmarked for development and around 23,000+ acres in Gurugram alone. The expansion targets multiple growth corridors including the Southern Peripheral Road, Dwarka Expressway and New Gurgaon belt and is designed to support organised real estate supply, plotted housing and planned neighbourhoods. NCLAT directs maintenance handover of Supertech Ecociti and 34 Pavilion to AOAs in Noida within 30 days

Karnataka RERA steps up crackdown on unregistered real estate projects, highlights regulatory gaps

Authorities raze nine multi-storey buildings among nearly 100 encroachments on KMP link stretch in Gurugram

Gurugram civic and revenue authorities have completed a five-day demolition drive along a 1.5-kilometre stretch of the Farrukhnagar-Daboda road, a key connector to the KMP Expressway, to remove almost 100 unauthorised structures that had narrowed the sanctioned road width and caused chronic traffic congestion. The operation resulted in the removal of nine multi-storey buildings, about 30 double-storey structures, and numerous smaller encroachments that had reduced the corridor's effective width to 35-40 feet from the legally sanctioned 60-66 feet, officials said. The drive, led by a duty magistrate and supported by more than 100 police personnel, revenue officials, municipal staff, fire brigade and emergency services, was largely peaceful and involved prior demarcation and outreach to property owners. The Gurugram civic body plans to redevelop the cleared road at an estimated INR 7 crore over the next 10 months, including improvements to carriageways, footpaths, green verges and storm drainage.Read more

Bombay High Court allows BMC to use Worli land for sewage plant, to examine reduction in reserved area

The Bombay High Court has allowed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to use 17,756 sq metres of land in Worli for a sewage treatment plant and related civic infrastructure. The land was originally reserved for this purpose but the reserved area was later reduced from around 27,700 sq metres following a State government order in mid-2024. The court said it will examine how and why this reduction was approved. The developer has assured the court that transit camp structures built on the site will be removed within 90 days.Read more

Over 1,000 Mumbai construction sites face stop-work notices over pollution violations

The Maharashtra government has issued more than 1,000 stop-work notices to construction sites across Mumbai for failing to comply with dust and air pollution control norms, the state environment minister informed the legislative assembly earlier this week. Out of 2,224 active sites, 1,952 have installed air quality monitoring sensors, but several were found violating mandatory mitigation rules. Nearly 1,981 show-cause notices were served over the past four months. Navi Mumbai civic body undertakes partial demolition of unauthorised construction in Koparkhairane after non-compliance with notice
