Construction delays on a short 87 km stretch in Gujarat have slowed the completion of the INR 1.04 lakh crore Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, despite most other sections nearing readiness. The stretch, divided into three packages and awarded in 2021, has seen less than 20% progress in nearly four years. Two contracts were earlier scrapped and later re-awarded to the same contractor. The Union government has approved a proposal to develop a world-class marina at Mumbai Harbour with an estimated investment of INR 887 crore, aimed at boosting maritime tourism and waterfront development. The project will be executed through a hybrid development model, combining public funding for core marine infrastructure with private sector investment in onshore facilities. Spread across nearly 12 hectares of water area, the marina will be designed to berth over 400 yachts. The development is expected to generate more than 2,000 jobs across marina operations, hospitality and cruise services, while enhancing public access to the waterfront and strengthening Mumbai's position in India's blue economy framework.Read more

Western Railway has opened a new digital lounge and co-working facility at Mumbai Central station to enhance passenger experience and meet growing demand for flexible workspaces. Covering 1,712 sq ft, the lounge offers high speed internet, modular workstations, video conferencing rooms, charging points, and comfortable seating. Operated under the INEJ Lounge brand, it also provides self serve refreshments and upgraded washrooms. The project is expected to generate around INR 3.2 crore in non fare revenue over five years, with potential expansion to other major stations based on demand.Read more

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has won a INR 165.04 crore contract from North Eastern Railway to construct the substructure of Bridge No. 50 over the Gandak River, located between Paniyahwa and Valmikinagar stations on the Gorakhpur Cantt Valmikinagar section. The project, part of railway doubling works, includes a 14-span bridge on Double D-type well foundations, designed for double-line operations with 25-tonne axle load capacity. Scheduled for completion in 24 months, the project aims to enhance rail connectivity and operational efficiency in the region. The government has confirmed plans to introduce a satellite-based toll collection system across national highways by the end of 2026. The new model will allow vehicles to move without stopping at toll plazas by using satellite tracking, AI tools, and Automatic Number Plate Recognition, integrated with FastTag. The system is expected to reduce congestion, cut fuel consumption, and improve toll efficiency. Officials estimate fuel savings of about INR 1,500 crore and a revenue increase of nearly INR 6,000 crore once the system is fully operational nationwide.Read more

The Central Government is aiming to accelerate highway construction to 60 km per day, even as new project awards have slowed with the Bharatmala Pariyojana nearing completion. Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said the focus has shifted to faster execution, timely clearances and completing ongoing projects. For FY26, the ministry has set a National Highways construction target of 10,000 km, in line with recent years performance. Bharatmala, covering nearly 34,800 km, has been a key driver of road expansion so far. The Telangana government has moved ahead with plans to take over the Hyderabad Metro Rail from Larsen & Toubro, with the process targeted for completion by March 2026. The state will acquire L&T’s equity for INR 2,000 crore and assume outstanding debt of around INR 13,000 crore. Officials have been directed to complete the transition in a structured manner within the next 100 days, ensuring continuity of operations. The Delhi government has invited tenders to develop two new city forests at Kharkhari Jatmal and Mukhmelpur as part of its wider green cover expansion plan. The Irrigation and Flood Control Department has issued tenders worth a combined INR 2.76 crore, with INR 1.47 crore allocated for Kharkhari Jatmal and INR 1.29 crore for Mukhmelpur. The projects include infrastructure development, land protection, and long-term maintenance and form part of the government's plan to develop 17 city forests across nearly 195 acres.Read more

State-owned power producer NTPC has commenced commercial operations of multiple solar power capacities across Gujarat and Rajasthan. This includes a portion of its large Khavda solar project in Gujarat and part of the Nokh solar project in Rajasthan.
