L&T plans to exit Hyderabad Metro project, seeks govt takeover via SPV

L&T is planning to sell over 90 per cent of its Hyderabad Metro stake to the Telangana or Central Government through a new SPV due to ongoing operational and financial difficulties. Delays in government support, property acquisition, alignment changes, and COVID-19 impacts have increased losses and cost overruns. Revenues declined by 21 per cent in 2024-25, while losses rose 13 per cent. Previous claims against the state reached INR 5,000 crore. L&T has also stated that it cannot participate in the upcoming Phase II-A and II-B expansions due to these financial and operational challenges.Read more

Vedanta advances with land acquisition for new aluminium smelter in Odisha

Maharashtra inks MoU with Lodha for 2 GW integrated data centre park in Mumbai

The Maharashtra government has signed an MoU with Lodha Developers to set up a Green Integrated Data Centre Park in Palava City, Dombivli, near Mumbai. Spread across 370 acres in Ambernath, Thane, the project will have a planned 2-gigawatt capacity and attract INR 30,000 crore in investment. The park will host leading domestic and global data centre companies, creating around 6,000 jobs. Part of Maharashtra's Green Data Centre Parks policy, the facility will run on renewable and alternative energy. With India's data centre capacity projected to rise from 8.3 GW to 20-25 GW by 2030, this project strengthens Mumbai's position as a key hub for digital and clean energy infrastructure.Read more

Serentica Renewables to scale capacity to 7.5 GW by 2027 with strong government project pipeline

Serentica Renewables, an independent power producer established in 2022, is preparing to expand its renewable capacity from 1 GW at present to 7.5 GW by late 2027. The plan includes 3 GW of government-backed projects, making up 40 per cent of its overall target. In the current financial year, the company has secured power purchase agreements and a Letter of Award totalling 650 MW with NTPC, SECI, NHPC, and SJVN. These projects will come up across Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Delhi Airport's upgraded Terminal 2 to handle 100 million passengers from late October

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport is set to expand its capacity to 100 million passengers annually with the reopening of Terminal 2 in late October. Built 40 years ago, the terminal was closed for renovation earlier this year to upgrade facilities and improve passenger handling. From the night of October 25-26, around 120 daily domestic flights operated by Air India and Indigo will move to T2, while Terminals 1 and 3 continue operations. Mumbai Metro News: Metro Line 11 from Wala to Gateway of India receives state approval

The Maharashtra government has cleared the INR 23,487 crore Metro Line 11 project, running 17.5 km from Wadala's Anik Bus Depot to SPM Circle near the Gateway of India, with 14 stations-13 underground. The project will be funded jointly by the state (INR 3,137 crore), the centre (INR 3,137 crore), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (INR 2,411 crore) and Mumbai Port Authority (INR 804 crore), with a 60% loan from financial institutions. The fare slab is fixed between INR 10 and INR 70, rising by INR 10 every three stations, and the line aims to ease traffic congestion and integrate with other metro lines.Read more

Elphinstone Bridge to be closed for demolition and reconstruction, new double-decker structure planned

Adani Power to build USD 3 bn, 2,400 MW plant in Bihar with 25-year pact

Adani Power has announced plans to establish a 2,400 MW ultra super-critical power plant in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur district, Bihar, with an investment of USD 3 billion (around INR 26,482 crore). The company has signed a 25-year Power Supply Agreement with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. to provide electricity from the new facility. The project, awarded under the lowest bid rate of INR 6.075 per KWh, will follow a Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model.
