Ganesh Real Estate Management Institute (GREMI), an AICTE-approved institution focused exclusively on real estate education, has inaugurated its City Campus at Million Minds Tech City in Ahmedabad. The launch marks the commencement of academic operations for Gujarat’s first standalone real estate management institute, with its founding batch of approximately 70 students scheduled to begin studies in August 2026. The initiative is backed by an initial investment commitment of INR 500 crore and forms part of a broader plan to establish a dedicated university for the real estate and built environment sector.
Located within Million Minds Tech City, the City Campus has been designed as an industry-linked learning environment where students can engage directly with businesses operating across the built-environment ecosystem. The inauguration was held alongside the Phase I launch of Million Minds Tech City within the Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar growth corridor, bringing together education, employment and innovation infrastructure within a single development.
GREMI is supported by Ganesh Housing Limited and has been established on the premise that effective urban development requires specialised education, professional training and multidisciplinary expertise. As part of its long-term expansion strategy, the institute has proposed a 100-acre integrated teaching, research and residential university campus in Ahmedabad. An application seeking Deemed University status under a distinct category has already been submitted to the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The inauguration event was attended by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. During the event, both leaders highlighted the importance of quality housing, urban development, infrastructure creation and a comprehensive approach towards real estate planning and management. The public presentation of GREMI’s long-term vision also included details of the proposed university campus, which will be developed with the initial INR 500 crore investment commitment.
Speaking at the event, Amit Shah said Gujarat had emerged as one of India’s major industrial growth centres and was increasingly positioning itself as a destination for technology, innovation and skilled services. He stated that projects such as Million Minds Tech City would contribute to employment generation and infrastructure development, while institutions such as GREMI would help build industry-linked talent and knowledge ecosystems supporting future growth in technology, real estate and infrastructure sectors.
Shekhar Patel, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ganesh Housing Limited and Chairman of GREMI’s Governing Council, said India’s rapid urbanisation required professionals with expertise extending beyond construction into planning, financing, governance and sustainable urban development. He noted that the institution had been established to address that requirement and contribute to the quality of future urban environments.
According to GREMI Director General and Chief Executive Officer Dr Anil Kashyap, the institute’s objectives extend beyond workforce development and include research, innovation and policy engagement relating to the built environment sector.
Once completed, the proposed main campus is expected to accommodate more than 2,000 students and offer postgraduate education and professional programmes across real estate development and finance, construction technology and project management, urban planning and infrastructure, housing policy, sustainability, smart cities, real estate law, governance and technology integration. GREMI’s flagship PGCM in Real Estate Development and Management will continue as its anchor programme as the institution seeks to establish a specialised academic framework for India’s real estate sector.
