Synopsis

A Gram Sabha was held in Penumaka village by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) as part of the ongoing land acquisition process for Amaravati. Senior APCRDA officials informed villagers about the status of land pooling and acquisition activities, highlighting that eligible landowners still have an opportunity to join the Land Pooling Scheme within the prescribed timeframe. Officials also reviewed names included in the acquisition notification, invited objections from residents, and outlined ongoing infrastructure development works in the capital region. Farmers were urged to cooperate with the development process and complete pending registration formalities.

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) conducted a Gram Sabha in Penumaka village as part of the ongoing land acquisition activities linked to the development of Amaravati, the state's capital city. Senior officials, including APCRDA Commissioner V. Vijayarama Raju, IAS, Additional Commissioners A. Bhargava Teja, IAS, and Kollabathula Karthik, IAS, attended the meeting and interacted with local residents.
During the Gram Sabha, the Commissioner explained that land pooling activities had already been undertaken for the development of roads, Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) zones and other infrastructure projects within Amaravati. He informed villagers that land acquisition notifications had recently been issued in accordance with the prescribed legal process after multiple rounds of discussions with farmers and landowners who had not participated in the land pooling exercise.
Officials clarified that farmers still have an opportunity to join the Land Pooling Scheme. Even landowners whose names have been included in the recently issued land acquisition notification can opt for land pooling within the stipulated period. During the meeting, APCRDA officials read out the names listed in the government notification and advised residents to submit objections, if any, through the prescribed process.
The authority also informed villagers that infrastructure planning and implementation activities are progressing across the Amaravati capital region villages. With development works gaining momentum under the Amaravati project, APCRDA urged farmers and landowners to extend their cooperation to ensure smooth execution of ongoing works.
The Commissioner also advised beneficiaries who have been allotted returnable plots under the Land Pooling Scheme to complete the registration process at the designated Competent Authority offices available locally. The move is aimed at facilitating the timely completion of administrative formalities related to land pooling beneficiaries.
Several senior officials participated in the Gram Sabha, including Planning Department Director B. Suresh Kumar (FAC), Special Deputy Collectors P. Madhusudhana Rao and A.G. Chinni Krishna, Tenali In-charge Sub-Collector Lakshmi Kumari, Tahsildar P. Satish and other government representatives.
The Amaravati project, which was launched through a large-scale land pooling model involving farmers across multiple villages, continues to witness renewed infrastructure activity. The government has been accelerating development works in the capital region, including road networks, public infrastructure and civic facilities, while simultaneously addressing pending land-related matters in villages that are part of the capital development area.
