• Andhra Pradesh is planning a INR 3,500 crore furniture manufacturing hub near Gudur.
• The proposed cluster is expected to support large-scale furniture production and attract domestic and international investment.
• Officials said the project will focus on strengthening manufacturing infrastructure, employment generation and industrial development.
• The initiative forms part of the state’s broader strategy to expand industrial clusters and boost manufacturing-led economic growth.
Andhra Pradesh is planning to develop a INR 3,500 crore mega furniture manufacturing hub near Gudur as part of efforts to strengthen industrial infrastructure, attract investment and expand manufacturing activity within the state.
The proposed project is expected to be developed as an integrated furniture manufacturing cluster aimed at supporting large-scale production, supply chain operations and allied industrial activity. State authorities have identified the project as part of broader efforts to position Andhra Pradesh as a manufacturing and industrial investment destination.
Officials indicated that the proposed hub would cater to both domestic and export-oriented manufacturing requirements. The project is expected to provide infrastructure for furniture production units, logistics facilities and supporting industrial operations linked to the sector.
The development is being planned near Gudur, a location that offers connectivity advantages through road, rail and port-linked transport networks. Industrial planners have increasingly focused on regions with access to transportation infrastructure to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce logistics costs for manufacturing businesses.
According to officials, the furniture manufacturing hub is expected to attract investments from companies operating across furniture production, wood processing, component manufacturing and related industrial segments. The cluster model is intended to create an ecosystem that supports manufacturing operations through shared infrastructure and industrial services.
The proposed investment of INR 3,500 crore reflects the scale of industrial infrastructure being planned under the project. Authorities stated that employment generation and industrial expansion remain key objectives behind the development of the manufacturing hub.
Andhra Pradesh has been pursuing multiple industrial corridor, logistics and manufacturing initiatives in recent years as part of efforts to increase industrial output and attract private sector investment. Sector-specific industrial clusters have emerged as a significant component of the state’s industrial development strategy.
Industry stakeholders have noted that organised manufacturing hubs can help improve production efficiency, facilitate investment inflows and support supply chain integration. Furniture manufacturing has gained attention as a sector with potential for both domestic demand growth and export opportunities.
Officials stated that the proposed cluster would also support ancillary industries and service providers connected to furniture manufacturing, including raw material suppliers, logistics operators and industrial service firms. Such projects are often designed to create broader industrial ecosystems around core manufacturing activities.
The furniture manufacturing sector has witnessed increasing policy attention across several states due to rising demand from residential, commercial and institutional real estate segments. Growth in housing, hospitality and commercial development has contributed to expanding demand for furniture and interior products.
Authorities stated that planning and implementation processes related to the proposed hub would be undertaken as part of the state’s wider industrial development agenda. The project is expected to contribute to manufacturing capacity expansion while supporting employment creation and industrial investment in the Gudur region.
