BEML Ltd has announced two key agreements aimed at improving financial access and technological capabilities in India's maritime manufacturing sector. The first pact, signed with Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL), focuses on enabling dedicated funding support for domestic maritime production, in line with the Centre's push for greater self-reliance. In another agreement, BEML partnered with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries to jointly design, develop, and manufacture next-generation conventional and autonomous port cranes. Work has begun on a 4.26 km, four-lane road over the Rajiv Nagar-Kurji drain in Patna, aimed at easing traffic for over 2 lakh residents. The project includes converting the open drain into a covered box drain and constructing a wide road with footpaths, street lighting, and drainage infrastructure. Contracted at INR 149.5?crore, it will connect key localities including Rajiv Nagar, Mahesh Nagar, Indrapuri, and Patel Nagar, addressing congestion, waterlogging, and sanitation challenges. Mumbai will open the first sections of two major metro lines on December 31. The debut stretches include part of Metro Line 9 between Dahisar East and Kashigaon, and a 5.3 km segment of Metro Line 2B from Diamond Garden to Mandale. Chhattisgarh has approved INR 429.45 crore for 26 urban infrastructure projects across 13 municipal corporations under the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana. The funding covers a wide set of works, including lake development, marine-drive expansion, new bus terminals, road upgrades, park creation, water-supply improvement and mobility corridors. Raipur, Raigarh and Bilaspur received the highest allocations. Work orders and foundation-stone activities have already begun for several projects. India is moving toward a barrier-free tolling model that will replace traditional toll booths within a year. The Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri rail project in Himachal Pradesh has been halted because the state government has not released its committed INR 1,843 crore share. Northern Railways has resumed the narrow-gauge train services in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra Valley after they remained suspended due to heavy rainfall and landslides earlier this year.
