Dr. Kamal Gupta, the Minister of Urban Local Bodies, announced this milestone, highlighting the integration of 34 lakh properties into the Property ID system for automated data entry from property registries. Furthermore, significant progress has been made in regularizing unauthorized colonies and granting ownership rights to long-standing shopkeepers. The government has also introduced SMS services for property-related updates and offered temporary tax relief. Additionally, an automated system for property registration will enhance efficiency, making Haryana a trailblazer in urban development and property management.
Dr. Kamal Gupta, the Minister of Urban Local Bodies in Haryana, proudly announced a historic milestone for the state: the implementation of the Property ID system, making Haryana the first state in India to achieve this significant feat. This ground breaking initiative, aimed at streamlining property identification and registration, has garnered attention and commendation from none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister lauded Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for introducing the "Creation of New Property-ID under Normal and Tatkaal Scheme" and urged other states to follow suit, recognizing the transformative potential of this endeavour.
Dr. Gupta addressed the media at his office in Chandigarh, sharing the remarkable progress that has been made. The heart of this achievement lies in the integration of approximately 34 lakh properties located within the Lal Dora region, which have now been assigned new property IDs. This integration allows for seamless data entry into the Property ID system, sourced directly from property registries. In addition to this momentous leap in property identification, Dr. Gupta revealed other significant accomplishments in the realm of urban development. Out of a total of 2,274 unauthorized colonies, an impressive 494 have already been regularized, and diligent efforts are ongoing to extend this regularization process to the remaining colonies.
The goal is to have nearly 850 colonies officially regularized by January 31, 2024, marking a substantial step forward in urban development. Dr. Gupta took the opportunity to emphasize another vital initiative known as the 'Svamitva Yojana.' This program has successfully granted ownership rights to long-standing shopkeepers who have diligently operated their businesses for over two decades, with the cutoff date set at December 31, 2020. The Svamitva Yojana represents a commitment to transparency and fairness in the realm of property ownership, a cause that the Haryana government passionately champions. One of the noteworthy advancements unveiled by Dr. Gupta is the streamlined accessibility of property-related information.
Citizens residing within urban local bodies can now receive crucial property-related updates through SMS services, enhancing convenience and accessibility for property owners. Moreover, Dr. Gupta shed light on an appealing tax relief scheme, available for a limited time to property owners who opt for full property tax payments during the fiscal year 2023–24. The relief period extends until November 15, 2023, offering a financial incentive to property owners who fulfill their tax obligations promptly. Additionally, the State Government of Haryana has advanced the property registration process in municipal areas by automating the update of property ownership details.
Commencing on July 3, 2023, property owners will no longer be required to submit applications for alterations to property IDs. Instead, the Urban Local Bodies database will be automatically updated with the relevant data following the execution of conveyance deeds, streamlining the property registration process to enhance efficiency and transparency. This remarkable series of initiatives and reforms underlines Haryana's dedication to advancing urban development and property-related processes while setting a commendable precedent for other states to follow.
