Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the achievements of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity, which has significantly enhanced infrastructure efficiency over the past three years. Launched in October 2021, the initiative integrates various infrastructure schemes from different ministries and state governments, improving seamless movement of goods and addressing supply chain bottlenecks. The plan has identified numerous infrastructure gaps and aims to develop sustainable solutions, ultimately fostering entrepreneurship and innovation across India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently lauded the accomplishments of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity, emphasising that this initiative has considerably enhanced multimodal connectivity, accelerated infrastructure development and improved efficiency throughout the country over the past three years. The initiative was launched on October 13, 2021. PM Gati Shakti brings together various infrastructure schemes from different ministries and state governments, including Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, dry ports, and the UDAN scheme.
This plan addresses multimodal connectivity across highways, railways, ports, airports, mass urban transportation, and inland waterways. It has facilitated the seamless movement of goods, resolved bottlenecks within the supply chain, and increased the competitiveness of Indian industries. In a recent post on 'X', Prime Minister Modi shared a message from Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal along with a thread from MyGov. He expressed that the PM Gati Shakti initiative is helping India accelerate towards the vision of a developed nation, stating that it would promote progress, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Modi further articulated that the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan has emerged as a transformative initiative with the aim of revolutionising India's infrastructure. He noted that it has greatly improved multimodal connectivity, leading to faster and more efficient development across various sectors. The seamless integration of multiple stakeholders has enhanced logistics, minimised delays, and created new opportunities for many individuals.
The initiative has successfully broken-down silos through a Network Planning Group (NPG) designed to synchronise efforts across ministries. So far, 81 NPG meetings have evaluated 213 infrastructure projects with a combined worth of INR 15.48 lakh crore. Additionally, 156 infrastructure gaps have been identified by relevant ministries and departments. The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is also dedicated to developing smart, green solutions for sustainable infrastructure.
