Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has urged officials of the Revenue and Land Reforms department to expedite the ongoing survey and settlement of lands across the state, with a target to complete the task by July 2025. Addressing the issue at a function in Patna where he distributed appointment letters to 20 newly recruited officers, Kumar highlighted the critical role of land-related disputes in contributing to crime rates, noting that more than 60% of incidents in the state are linked to such disputes.
The state government initiated a special aerial survey and settlement of lands in 2013 to address these issues comprehensively. Kumar emphasized the need for swift action, especially with the recent addition of 9,888 officials to the department tasked with accelerating the survey process.
