Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has introduced an innovative incentive program aimed at promoting eco-friendly practices and women’s empowerment while easing the tax burden for residents.
Under the newly launched seven-star rating policy, residents stand to benefit from up to a 10% concession in the general tax component of property tax starting from the upcoming financial year. The policy incentivises adherence to a range of sustainable actions, including the use of e-vehicles, segregation of garbage at source, tree plantation, property registration under female family members' names, utilisation of solar power, implementation of rainwater harvesting, and online tax payment.
According to officials, taxpayers who meet all seven criteria will enjoy the maximum discount, while those meeting six or five criteria will receive discounts of 8% and 6%, respectively. Municipal commissioner and CSMC administrator G Sreekanth emphasised the importance of online tax payment and water tax payment for eligibility under the policy.
Beyond just tax benefits, the initiative aims to foster a culture of environmental consciousness, technological advancement, and gender equality within the community. By encouraging the adoption of clean energy solutions, waste management practices, and digital payment systems, the CSMC seeks to contribute to both local sustainability efforts and national development goals.
Residents are encouraged to seize this opportunity to not only reduce their tax burden but also contribute to a greener, more equitable future for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The seven-star policy underscores the municipality's commitment to promoting eco-conscious behaviours and empowering its citizens toward a brighter tomorrow.
With sustainability at the forefront, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar sets an example for other urban centers, demonstrating that proactive environmental stewardship can go hand in hand with economic prosperity and social progress.
