Earlier this month, the State Government of Gujarat approved eleven town planning (TP) proposals out of which nine are located in Ahmedabad. The cabinet also approved one TP programme each for the cities of Surat and Bhavnagar. 23,700 EWS housing units will be built as part of the proposals approved for Ahmedabad. 20.73 hectares have been set aside for additional public amenities, while 25.05 hectares have been set aside for gardens and parks. 3,300 EWS housing units would be built in Bhavnagar and 567 EWS housing units will be built in the Pandesara neighbourhood of Surat.

The seven preliminary TP schemes in Ahmedabad that have been approved are TP schemes 65 Saijpur-Bogha and 66 Saijpur-Bogha East, as well as TP schemes 105 Vastral, 73 Vinzhol, 114 Vastral-Ramol, 93/C Gyaspur-Vejalpur, and 92/B Sarkhej-Okaf. Further, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority's proposed TP schemes 128/A Rupavati and 138/B Rupavati-Vasodara (AUDA) have also been given the greenlight. The Surat Adiminstration has also approved preliminary TP project 57 Pandesara and sanctioned TP scheme 32 Shampura under the Bhavnagar Area Development Authority.
Although an area of 20.40 hectares will be sold under the approved TP projects of Surat and Bhavnagar to finance infrastructure and other amenities in the schemes an area of 89.95 hectares will be sold under the TP schemes for financing infrastructural and other facilities in Ahmedabad.
