The agreement represents a milestone in the company's rich four-decade legacy on the African continent. Tata International, a key contributor to Africa's economic landscape since establishing operations in Nigeria in 2006, emphasizes Tata’s business ethics and corporate social responsibility. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Anand Sen, Managing Director of Tata International Limited, and Len Brand, Managing Director of Tata Africa Holdings Pty Ltd. Anand Sen expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that Tata as a brand is synonymous with quality products and ethical business operations in Africa and Tata International is excited to join the Lagos Free Zone. This strategic move reflects Tata’s commitment to fuelling growth in Nigeria and the wider African continent. The signing ceremony, held in the Lagos Free Zone area, marked a new era in the relationship between Tata International, Tolaram, and Lagos Free Zone. This collaborative effort seeks to contribute to economic development in the region and attract new investors to Nigeria, a key economy in the continent. The LFZ, promoted by Tolaram, a Singaporean conglomerate with extensive Nigerian experience, is situated in Lekki, designated by the Lagos State Government for industrialization over the next two decades. Tata International has decided to expand their operations in Nigeria through Tolaram’s ready-to-lease Standard Industrial Facility at the LFZ. The LFZ agreement involves leasing a state-of-the-art 6000 square meter facility, aiming to enhance operational capabilities in the region. Len Brand, MD of Tata Africa Holdings, emphasized the collaboration's significance, stating that the participation in Lagos Free Zone aims for greater efficiency, innovation, and specialization in the region. It is the next level of commitment for Tata International's longstanding presence in Nigeria and the African continent as a whole. Dinesh Rathi, CEO and Managing Director at Lagos Free Zone, highlighted LFZ's unique position as the first and only free zone in Nigeria integrated with the Lekki Port, which commenced operations in April 2023. He emphasized LFZ's offering as a location providing seamless and cost-efficient access to domestic, regional, and international markets for its tenants.
